George Rayner
Coasting
Coasting - Documenting British coastline. Re-evaluation of the conventional chemical photographic process led to George exploring natural resources. Collected from his daily walk under covid restrictions, seaweed is used to develop photographic film, whilst caffenol is used in the production of the prints of photographs documenting a section of the British coastline; increasingly affected by the rising sea level and pollution. The inconsistencies and unpredictability, which occurs within those ecological processes, lends each print its own idiosyncratic qualities, allegorical of nature itself.
