Shore Life
‘Shore Life’ is a component of a larger project undertaken whilst studying a short course in psychogeography with the Open College of Arts in 2021. I studied the sea shore and salt marsh at Rye, East Sussex. The images are intended to suggest petri dishes highlighting the detritus that is found on careful inspection of the shore. I go out in search of nature, and am distracted by the waste products of human activities. The effects of local sewage spills, the fishing industry and day trippers are evidenced. The images are made using multiple layers, both in-camera and using the digital darkroom.
