Aisling Edwards
Revisiting Landscapes, Hayle
Aisling Edwards is a British born fine artist working with photography and sculpture within the landscape. Her work is a response to topographies that are constantly changing. Each time, she captures a visual language between humankind and the landscape.
Revisiting Landscapes, Hayle (2020) explores Edwards’ reaction with nature whilst she contemplates the effects of coastal erosion in Cornwall. Using found materials Edwards constructs linear forms to dramatise the imprint of humankind on the landscape. The work showcases how alive the terrain is and how different the landscape can be from day to day as she visited and re-visited these spaces.
Her photographs demonstrate the value of recording sites to note changes so they can be preserved into the future as evidence that these scenes and sculptural interventions once existed within this space.
