Sparrows is an in depth look into his grandma’s life inside her home In Weston-Super-Mare. Gwen lived in London with her sister and brothers, and was evacuated from London, Islington, when she was four during World War 2. She was sent to live in Weston-Super-Mare with one of her brothers. Gwen met Alan whilst playing badminton at a local church and got married soon after in 1963. Gwen loves her flowers and Alan is a keen birdwatcher, he likes to sit in the dining room and look out at the birds in the garden. As time’s progressed Gwen’s started to show signs of memory loss due to a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia, with Alan also being diagnosed with terminal cancer. The project explores diagnosis, relationship, and love.
