Evidence 2021

In 2021, we launched the second Bath Photography Festival with the theme title - evidence. Sadly, due to the COVID-19 lockdowns, the available physical space was limited. The outcome was four photo documentary projects exhibited at 44AD ArtSpace, with the rest of the work promoted online.

Introduction

After the success of the 2018 Real/Unreal exhibitions, we are excited to announce the next festival theme and callout! “Evidence”

Is there proof, a trail, and is it authenticated? What is evidence? How is it interpreted?

• In the sense of proof: something which provides grounds for belief or disbelief.

• In the sense of sign(s): ‘Police said there was no evidence of a struggle.’

• In the sense of testimony: a matter produced before a court of law in an attempt to prove or disprove a point in issue.

We invited photographers, videographers, artists, writers, poets, and animators to respond to the theme. The work had to present a narrative and incorporate photographic imagery as a form of documentation. The submissions could be a single photograph or a series of photographic images, a photomontage, a photo essay, a written response, a short video, or a graphic design artwork.
